summer's almost gone!!

well, our summer days are at an end, i'm afraid! the boys have started band camp, three practices a day, and to me that means the lazy days have come to an end. not that this summer has been a blast; on the contrary, it is probably one of the worst summers we've had. no season passes to six flags; no vacations to the coast; not too much fun at all. i had a hysterectomy on june 16, and since then have been back in the hospital three times for complications. i'm now on i.v. antibiotics twice a day to try to kill a mrsa infection. they had to re-open my incision on one of those hospital visits (i won't even mention how they deadened the area and didn't wait for it to take effect before they started cutting), so i had to be on a machine called a wound-vac to help it heal. i was on it for four weeks and just got done with it last friday. that has given me much-needed freedom to move around and actually live like a person again. now we're doing a much smaller dressing on the wound, which has shrunk in size to about four inches when before it went from my belly button to my pelvic bone. so, progress is being made, slowly but surely. i'm just grateful the doctors were able to find out what the infection was and i'm grateful there is a cure, albeit just one cure, to get rid of it. what blessings i have received in my time of great physical pain and emotional suffering. i'm grateful to heavenly father for that.
i'm also grateful that my mom was able to come and stay with me for two months while i tried to heal. she was such a great blessing to have around. she gave me comfort and fed me and took care of me. she was amazing! as was tom, whose had to do all the "dirty" jobs of changing my dressings twice a day and administering my i.v. drugs twice a day. all without any complaints! i'm so glad he's mine!!
the good news is that adam and amanda and braeden moved back in with us!! i am so happy to have them around. the house is crowded, especially with emily home from college, but most of the time things run smoothly and are great. i love having my grandbaby here. he is growing so fast! he is three months old and is laughing and "talking" and so much fun! he hates being on his tummy so he probably will never crawl!!
i am really enjoying having emily home. she spent the first week she was back teaching a color guard camp in brownsville, so she enjoyed that. now she's back with us and is looking for a job. it's like old times!
i forgot to mention that adam is working at the j.w. marriot hill country resort and spa. you should google it; it's HUGE!! and expensive!! he's okay with the work but likes the pay. i'm glad he has a job in this economy.
overall, things are great with us and we are really blessed. i can't wait 'til football season starts so we can go to all the games with the kids. and i love watching college and pro football on t.v. i'm counting the days!!
well, nothing else exciting is going on. we're just trying to live our best with what god has given us, and being grateful for his blessings. looking forward to a busy year!! :)

Hey guys! I just found your blog address in the Christmas card, which I'm SO grateful you sent! I'm so mad I didn't know you guys were still there - Rianne and I were there over the summer while she attended the SanJapan convention and I was bored! I did get to visit w/ one of my best friends who lives in the area - Lolly Lyman. We moved back to Tennessee, as Lynn lost his job in Canada in the summer. Luckily, he found a job he really loves here. Not our #1 choice, but we're just happy he has a great job! We still have our home in NY, but hopefully we'll be done with that soon. Anyway, so glad to be back in touch! Take care. My best to Tom.
